Friends and posts.

I have some regular blogger friends who like myself keep an active blog which means making the effort most every day to write some thing. These people are my real friends we visit each other quite often and they know who they are.

Then there are others who push private message after message we reply to but they never bother or rarely ever bother to leave a comment on our blog.

Then there are new comers who write an interesting post or no post atall who want us to be there friend. We are dissapointed to find they hardly ever write anything for us to read and seem to contribute nothing dispite us giving them a chance and being there friend.

I like meeting new people and i love it if i find a genuine new blogger with enthusiasm but so many are not and i tend to think maybe i would be better just sticking to those i know are my friends, keen to blog and take it quite seriously just as i do.

And drop all the rest, would they even notice except for one notch being removed from the bedpost, so to speak. What do you think?.

It's funny I do more reading than commenting these days. Blog synchronicity I think...just posted about cleaning up the friends lists!

  Yes afraid it as to be done at some time, we do notice some who never visit us, or never leave a comment, and never write much, dont we?

    If they don't comment its hard to say who is reading. But yes absolutely it is noticed!

i know what you mean. Some bloggers we never hear from, and some have more time to blog, and are much more active. I guess it depends on why you are blogging, is it more for you, in which case it does not matter if people comment or not, or is it for the others. I often read blogs without commenting. Sometimes everyone has commented what I would have said, sometimes there is nothing to comment, but I passed by. I think it is the same on my own blog, which is there as a release for me, although also as a place I like to get my friends opinions. But I know a lot come by, and move on without commenting. That is okay, I don't mind.
If you stick to just friends, you might miss out on meeting someone new, and other miss out on reading some of your posts. But you must decide.

  I am mainly talking of those who neaither write a post or comment on our blogs. Question is are a few good reliable people better than many on our list who seem to contribute nothing week after week,some times never.
  
  There will always be people passing through who will read what we write if they find it interesting, they are not people asking to be our friend and contributing nothing in return. You are contributing right now you have made a comment.
  
  I suppose a lot depends on wether we want a long lists of names we call friends or people who talk to us who show some interest.

i know what you mean I am long overdue a clearout of my friends list some people havent even logged on for a year so it is time to tidy up a little

  This is the sort of thing i am talking of bore we have to ask ourselves do we need them and i think the answer is no. I give them time and if nothing moves i think they will go.x

It is hard at times to get around to everyone and to reply to comments also but I think if we have friends on here we should at least try to comment on posts by them, if they don't write anything we feel we want to comment on then why are we friends in the first place? I read a lot of new posts and decide based on a few posts not just the first one whether I think I should be friends with someone. A good clearout is necessary every now and then though x

Spot on. Why bother to be a friend if you don't read or comment?

And why have a blog if you don't blog on a regular basis.

That's just my thoughts though. X

  Neaither do i aly this is why i am asking the question wether we should concider if there as been no posts on there blog and no comments if we should keep them on our friends list, are they a friend, if they are never there they are not .
  
  Because all they are doing is collecting up what seems to be a vanity list and so are we if we keep them forever with no change. I like to give everybody a chance but when weeks go by and nothing as moved whats it about?.xx

    I know what you mean, I do think it does feel better having those mates you have regular communication with I have some on my list, I will see how things go, it's early days for some of them. However there may well come a time when I have to decide to keep it too those that blog regularly XXX

      I suppose when we hve been on here a few years anyway we do need to do that or we lose touch with our real friends,but i think there will always be an opening on my blog for a promising newcomer who adds a bit of sparkle and can make me smile and is really keen.xx

To keep a long story short - I have been very active here for going on 5 years but I have only 23 friends listed. If I was another of the obvious ego hunters my list could easily be many hundreds or even thousands.

You may be aware of the saying, 'Discretion is the better part of valour.'

  Yes i have heard the saying skip and agree with it to a point but it is nice to meet new people if they have some thing interesting to say and some thing to make us smile,its nice to make them feel welcome here.xx

I always try to read everything written by my friends and then go to othger blogs. I also think it is rude not to reply to comments. It is hard work sometimes but the more you put in to something the more you get out xx

I know just what you mean!.....it should be a two way thing shouldn't it. I have been thinking of deleting some of the people on my friends list too, as I have noticed that although I always comment on most of their posts they very seldom comment on mine. That doesn't seem right, as I feel that it's all a one-sided effort, and if I deleted them then I would have more time to spend on the lovely friends I have who always comment on my posts and reply to the comments I leave on theirs. They're the ones I regard as my true friends.

  This is how i see it i would have more time for those who work at it and keep in touch instead of wasting time looking in at blogs that havent been posted in for ages to see if i have missed some thing.
  
  Like you i like to give people a chance and i will. Blogging is not like writting a book there is always some thing one can write even if its only a visit to the supermarket or taking your kids to school,how you feel,anything goes, so its not that difficult, is it? People will read anything if its interesting.xxx

    Don't quite understand why you visit blogs that haven't been posted in! If you click on "My blog.co.uk" at the top of your screen it shows you the latest "friends" posts and at the bottom of that page is "more New posts from my friends" which will show you earlier ones (you can go right back to page ten there if necessary) I just use those facilities for reading friends posts, as I work on the basis that if they haven't posted anything there's no point in visiting (unless there's something I particularly want to say)

      I always run through my friends list to see who i havent heard from for a while and check see what is going on and some times i have missed some thing even when i have checked the list you refer to. have a nice day.xx

        You're right, it is quite easy to miss one or two that way.......perhaps I should start doing what you do too.....but I'm not sure I'd have any time left at all if I did! LOL I'm stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea it seems

Sometimes I am really busy and do not get time to come here. I always try to post something on my days off. They have cracked down at work and blocked all internet so I cannot post from there now.

I do as much as I can and really like sharing my photos.
